Kids in the Pokies
May 4 2010, 3:04 AM EDT
I find it very concerning, I now see kids in the pokies. We had dinner at the Highways, (not the best meal) when leaving the club we noticed a kid sitting on a chair in the pokies tapping the keys on the machine. I mean where on earth are the staff to stop this sort of thing.

The point is that the children should never be in the pokie pub or club at all. There should be no enticement of free food, free playgrounds, free movies or free entertainment. Pokie gambling and children do not mix.

"All because of inaction from Mr Brumby..no guts."There did used to be doors at these venues so kids could not enter. I wonder who told them to take the doors off....? Our children are being exposed to the pokies all the time now. 2 out of 3 found this valuable. Do you? |

If you see a child in a gaming room note down the date and exact time and report it to the VCGR Inspectors and they will go out and look at the video cameras and when they see it on the camera the venue will get into trouble. If it keeps happening the VCGR could shut the venue down. So rather than sit here and ***** about it, Do something about it!!!

I did a survey of venues to see if they were meeting their obligation to display the existence of self-exclusion. Despite hand written notes at the time of inspection and recording the time and date, the VCGR essentially found that I was delusional. The most recent disgrace is their failure to take action despite the reports that Woolworths/Mathieson were operating a pokie club through a basketball club that had ceased to exist. If true, Woolworths/Mathieson should be deemed unfit to hold any pokie license. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

I know of a venue that received a letter of censure after a child ran in the gaming room for 4 seconds after another customer had advised the inspectors. I know of another venue who recently fitted doors to their gaming room as minors were constantly entering. So don't put all venues into the same boat!!! 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

All Venues should have fitted doors to their gaming room...Dont want to be rude, but hell, you see kids in the gaming venues all the time...Big deal. Settlement Hotel. Rosebud Hotel, and one I was in last week, the Grand Frankston. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |
