The Government is committed to new measures, which include banning ATMs from gaming venues by July 2012 and requiring ... gamblers to pre-set time or net loss limits on next generation machines this year and on all machines in 2013." 2  out of 2 found this valuable. Do you?

I think you'll find they won't be "Requiring" gamblers to pre-set, it will be an option. The same as the "Tracking Session" is at the moment. And yes, the ATMs will be going but venues will still have eftpos facilities to allow patrons to access up to $400 per day as is the current legislation. Let's make sure we get the facts right shall we???

Unfortunately, you are correct. And allowing people the option without making pre-commitment compulsory effectively makes waste of this means to minimise the harm of pokie gambling. Please refer to the Productivity Commission's draft findings about opt-out.
