General Comments
Opposite Centro Glen shopping centre.
The City of Monash adopted a gaming policy in 2001. You can read this document here. On page 7 certain measures are stated "To ensure a safe environment for gaming activities and the provision of meaningful information for gamblers." This includes "Tea and coffee to be provided in an informal area adjacent to the gaming room/s, to encourage patrons to take a break from gaming activities."
The City of Monash also created a helpful web page.

17 May 2008 Inspection


'Cannot Win' talker signs
There was no sign on pokie #70. Signs on pokies 7-10 and 65-69 were on the top box. Signs on pokies 20, 21 and 24 were on the section between the top box and the egm. The sign on pokie #89 was at the very top of the EGM. Signs on pokies 2-4, 49, and 51 were placed well to the rear of the EGM. The talkers on pokie 50 was obscured by a pole. 22 signs were placed so that part of the sign intersected the animated reels. The balance were placed so high so as not to be visible from video play face.

Visibility of ATM from Gaming Room
The planter was no longer present. The ATM is visible from pokies 12 and 13. The ATM screen displays the ALH brand. Problem gambling help brochures are placed atop the ATM.

9 posters in gaming area. The Tatt's 'Set A Limit" poster only visible when entering pokie area from TAB room. 1 poster promoted becoming a member. No posters observed for activities in the hotel that asked gamblers to patronise other parts of the hotel.

14 June 2008 Inspection


'Cannot Win' talker signs
All signs had been moved from the top box. The sign on pokie #58 was placed upside down. The sign on pokie #50 was no longer obscured. It was not recorded whether the signs were now placed opposite the animated reels so as to be visible to the pokie gambler.

Visibility of ATM from Gaming Room
The planter with the artifical bamboo had returned to the ATM space. Notwithstanding, the ATM remains visible from pokies 12 and 13.

Yes. Watched staff looking for someone who had ordered coffee. Coffee was served to gambler while she was gambling at pokie #81. She continued to gamble.

Chocolate Factory machine in pokie entrance from bistro. This is an open entrance. The Chocolate Factory machine is 8 paces from the nearest pokie.

19 Showcase talkers affixed to the top of pokies. Banner for Platinum Jackpot. Floor and poster for Dell promotion. LCD promoting Showcase in corner also promoted a jackpot of 319,000 plus. General Comments
Venue had promotional focus on seniors with Morning Melodies promoted in car park entrance and glass case near the cashier. No external advertising with family appeal.
