In October 2008, The Logan City Council resolved as follows:
1 That, given the prevalence of problem gambling in Logan, Council does not
support any increase in the number of electronic gaming machines in Logan
or an extension to the hours of operation of electronic gaming machine
venues in Logan.
2. That the Deputy Chief Executive Officer - Community & Customer Services
be requested to provide a report to a future Community, Sport & Customer
Services Committee meeting detailing how Council can best implement the
policy as outlined in Clause 1 above, relating to the number of electronic
gambling machines. This report is to include details of all policies, local
laws, and all other instruments relevant to local government that could be
used to strengthen Council's policy as outlined in Clause 1 above relating to
the number of electronic gaming machines.
