The City of Darebin created a Charter of Responsible Poker Machine Gambling in 2004. You can download it
here from the City's website. This Charter asks that all venues sign on to the charter. It also requires:
"Venues will display the following information in a position within their venue which is visible or
accessible to the majority of patrons:
•A copy of this Charter
•A poster summarising the key provisions of the Charter
•The Venue Operators Code of Practice (VGMI)
•Notices advising of potential problem gambling behaviours and responsible gambling behaviours
•Notices advising of the availability of counselling and support services
•Notices advising that payouts may be taken by cheque"
Further inspection of the pokie rooms in the City should take note of the manner of compliance with these requirements.
